We are Julian Kies and Miles Lunt, two Brophy seniors serving with Hope Ignites Phoenix through the Brophy Romero Community at Brophy College Preparatory!

Through this program, we spend 5 to 6 hours each week serving nonprofit organizations across Phoenix and putting our faith into action. Inspired by Archbishop Óscar Romero, who stood up for people experiencing poverty and injustice, we are challenged to serve others and strengthen our communities.

We discovered Hope Ignites Phoenix through our religion class and were drawn to its mission of supporting motivated young people as they work toward their full potential. As younger siblings ourselves, we know how meaningful it is to have someone who believes in you and encourages you to see your own potential.

Through Hope Ignites Phoenix, we hope to be those role models for scholars, building relationships, encouraging them as they prepare for their futures, and learning from them along the way.

Hello, my name is Julian Kies, and I am a senior at Brophy College Preparatory. I am an avid cross-country runner who enjoys spending my time serving others and being outdoors. I first heard about Hope Ignites Phoenix through my religion class this year, and I was immediately interested in getting involved. I enjoy working with younger scholars and helping them grow, especially as they prepare for high school and begin thinking about their futures.

Through Hope Ignites Phoenix, I hope to be someone younger scholars can look up to and learn from. I know how important it is to have people who encourage you, believe in you, and help you recognize your own potential. I want to bring that same support to the scholars I work with while building genuine relationships with them.

Hello, my name is Miles Lunt, and I am a senior at Brophy College Preparatory. I am passionate about mathematics and love building with Lego bricks. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games and watching TV shows. I first learned about Hope Ignites Phoenix and its mission through my religion class, and I was drawn to the opportunity to work directly with younger scholars. I have always been interested in business and in finding ways to inspire and connect with others, so Hope Ignites Phoenix gives me a chance to combine those interests with service.

Through Hope Ignites Phoenix, I hope to be a positive role model and mentor. I want to encourage scholars to believe in themselves, help them recognize their potential, and be someone they can turn to for support. By serving alongside them, I hope to build meaningful relationships, strengthen my community, and grow as a person who is well-educated and committed to being a man for others.

We are incredibly grateful to Julian and Miles for choosing Hope Ignites Phoenix as their service placement through the Brophy Romero Community. Their willingness to invest their time, talents, and energy in our scholars reflects the power of young leaders making a difference in their community. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Brophy Romero Community and Brophy College Preparatory for fostering a spirit of service, faith, and leadership in students. We look forward to the impact Julian and Miles will have on our scholars and are honored to be part of their service journey.
